Description

If you had seen my Tumblr posts for the past few days, you would have seen that I've posted three different versions of this drawing, haha!

A rendering study on clothes and hair. What started out as practice coloring of the eyes turned with lighting practice, which got turned into a coloring practice, which got turned into a rendering practice.

I'm stopping it here with this one. I feel like I've been working on it for too long :( I feel like I'm going to stagnate if I work on it some more.

On behalf of ProjectComment, I greet you. With my tag word being strength, I simply had to pick this drawing seeing how the girl in this image seems like a strong person.

The shading is -awesome-, hands down. I don't know what brush you're using, but keep using it. I also really like the folds on her clothes, her body language is perfect and her facial expression speaks for itself. Based on her facial expression and body language, I'd say she reminds me of my own OC's personality a lot. As for the hair, I like the guy's hair a lot more. It is easier to the locks in the hair, see the strands. The girls hair seems way too simple on the top of her head. Considering the detail you put into the rest of her hair, the top looks a bit dull. She is missing a swirl in her hair, or any sort of parting. (I kind of did the same mistake on my last drawing). And the highlights blend in with the hair color so those are very hard to see as well.

I would probably use a different hue for the skin. It is a bit too yellow. Instead of gray, try using different colors to shade. I myself am still learning this part so I will link you a few tutorials that would explain things a lot better than I would. Check them out if you'd like www.youtube.com/watch?v=CF05uz… - she can also be found on deviantart, istebrak.deviantart.com/ she mostly draws realistic portraits, but seeing how your style is mostly anime, I thought that video would be more appealing to you. And finally this guy's channel www.youtube.com/user/KienanLaf… He is a great artist, very talented and his videos are very helpful (to me anyway). In all honesty, if this skin color is what you prefer, it's alright to keep using it, there's nothing wrong with it, but keep in mind that we have blood flowing through our face which often results in some form of color other than yellow and gray. That is my personal opinion and my advice, you can take it or ignore it :)

Last but not least, I think her ear to our left should not be visible, at least that much due to the way her head is rotated. The ear should be covered unless it is a really big ear.

Overall the dynamic of the image is great, the way the characters interact and react to each other is brilliant, the shading is exceptional, the hands are well drawn and the details on the clothes are very well made. A few very minor mistakes, but overall the drawing itself is perfect. I hope the videos will help you in the future and keep up the good work.

The next contestant is ccrazyisme and your tag word will be "rainbow". Good luck :D
